Unforgettable Theatre Visits

Great Sankey High School students have enjoyed truly unforgettable experiences when they travelled to Liverpool to see two globally acclaimed theatre productions currently touring the UK.
For some students, this was their very first time seeing live theatre and was a great cultural experience for all the young people who took part in the trip.
At Omega Multi-Academy Trust, we believe in the importance of opening doors to culture and opportunity and giving every child the chance to engage with experiences beyond the classroom. These moments help to ignite ambition, inspire futures, and help shape the success that lies ahead. Staff across the Trust are committed to making sure students have access to opportunities that they may not otherwise have and we thank them for their dedication.
As part of this commitment, Year 9 and 10 students attended a performance of Hamilton at Liverpool Empire. Not only did students get to witness this iconic musical live on stage, they also took part in a special Q&A session with the cast, band, technical team, and backstage crew. This unique opportunity gave students an inspiring insight into the many exciting careers within the arts.
Hamilton follows the extraordinary life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. The show brings history to life in a format that’s relevant and accessible, while showcasing the power of creativity, storytelling, and representation in the arts. It also offers insight into complex themes like leadership, legacy, and social change.
GCSE and A Level Drama students also visited Liverpool to watch The Girl on the Train at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre, giving them a valuable opportunity to experience the arts first-hand. The visit provided a brilliant evening full of drama, talent and lasting memories!
Adapted from Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel, The Girl on the Train is a gripping example of contemporary psychological theatre. The production encourages students to explore themes such as memory, truth, and identity, while also showcasing how literature can be powerfully adapted for the stage. It offered our Drama students the chance to think critically about narrative structure, character development, and the emotional power of live performance.
For our school’s, theatre trips are more than just enjoyable experiences. They open students’ eyes to new ideas, spark their imagination, and help them discover paths they may never have considered before.
