We are delighted with the exam results achieved by students at both Barrow Hall College and Alsop 6th Form this year. Our Year 13 students have showcased remarkable dedication, resilience and academic excellence, leading to outstanding success across a wide range of subjects, both academic and vocational.
At Barrow Hall College (part of Great Sankey High School), the Class of 2024 have had fantastic achievements. With nearly half of the A-Level grades awarded at A* to B and a significant number of vocational students achieving top marks, including Distinction and Distinction*, the results speak volumes about the hard work and commitment of both students and staff. Helen Stones, Head of Barrow Hall College, expressed her pride, saying, "I am incredibly proud of the fantastic results our Year 13 students have achieved. They have worked extremely hard and their dedication has paid off."
Among the many success stories, we would like to highlight Eno's acceptance to the University of Cambridge to read Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Hussain's acceptance to the University of Brighton to study Medicine and Mohana's acceptance to Harper and Keele Veterinary School to pursue Veterinary Medicine. These achievements, along with the many others across diverse fields, illustrate the broad range of talents and ambitions within our student body.
Alsop 6th Form has also celebrated a tremendous set of results this year, continuing its trend of improvement, particularly in its value-added scores. These scores reflect the progress students have made from their starting points, underscoring the dedication and care provided by the teaching staff. Lynne Tynan, Student Progress Leader for Key Stage 5, praised the students, stating, "They have worked extremely hard and their dedication has paid off. Students are going on to a great range of destinations and are continuing their studies across the country, with many having secured their first-choice university places or apprenticeships.”
Notable achievements from Alsop 6th Form include Kataryna, who will be studying Civil Engineering at Manchester University, and Anthony, who is heading to Liverpool John Moores University to study Business with Digital Marketing. In addition, the school celebrates Charlotte's and Winnie's successful applications to competitive apprenticeships in Hospitality Management and Dental Nursing, respectively.
James Kerfoot, the newly appointed Executive Principal, expressed his enthusiasm for the future, noting, “The impressive improvement in our value-added scores is a testament to the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers. We will use these results to continue to build the strong reputation of our Alsop 6th Form.”
Both Barrow Hall College and Alsop 6th Form have had mornings filled with joy and pride, as students, parents and teachers gathered to celebrate the wonderful achievements. As a Trust we would like to congratulate all the students for their hard work and wish them every success as they embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives.
As we celebrate these successes, we are also looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of students to our 6th Form provisions. Applications are now open for those who aspire to join the Class of 2026 at Barrow Hall College and Alsop 6th Form, where we will continue to support each student in achieving their fullest potential.
