We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Mrs. Kate Evans, a valued member of Great Sankey High School, who has been honoured with the 'Unsung Hero Award' at the Warrington Guardian Education Awards 2024. This well-deserved recognition highlights Mrs. Evans' exceptional dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to the school community she has served for over 27 years.

The annual Warrington Guardian Education Awards are dedicated to recognising excellence across schools in the Warrington area. Mrs. Evans' award underscores her vital role at Great Sankey High School, where she is affectionately regarded as the "heartbeat of the school." Her colleagues and students alike speak of her with deep admiration, describing her as the "glue" that holds the school together, always ready to support others and go above and beyond in her daily responsibilities.

Mrs. Evans' contribution to the school extends far beyond her official duties. Whether organizing events, mentoring students or providing crucial support to staff, she is consistently the first to volunteer. Her dedication is reflected in the sentiments of her colleagues, who unanimously agree that there is "no one more deserving" of this award.

As Deputy Head Teacher Christina Kane remarked, "Kate is knowledgeable, approachable, and flexible. She helps everybody and goes above and beyond on a daily basis. We really would be lost without her."

In receiving the award, Mrs. Evans expressed her gratitude saying g that her achievements are the result of a collective effort by the entire school community. Her words echo the ethos of collaboration and support that defines Great Sankey High School and the wider Trust.

Gary Evans, Head Teacher at Great Sankey High School, spoke highly of Mrs. Evans, stating, "Kate is one of those people you can depend on, no matter what she is asked to do.
