Omega Multi-Academy Trust schools marked World Mental Health Day with a range of activities focused on promoting mental wellbeing among students, staff, and the local community.
The special events were designed to start conversations about mental health and encourage self-care.
At Alsop High School, the day was marked by a special Tea and Talk session for parents. In the afternoon, parents were invited to meet with the school's mental health team over tea, coffee, and cake, creating an informal and supportive space to discuss mental health.
The event also featured a guest speaker from the local Life Rooms, who shared information on mental health courses for adults and provided resources on food banks and other support available within the community.
Staff were also encouraged to wear yellow as part of the campaign by children’s mental health charity Young Minds. Throughout the month, staff members will have access to a safe environment where they can talk to the school’s mental health team, either in groups or one-on-one, to discuss any concerns or simply to offload.
At Chapelford Village Primary School, children were invited to wear yellow and donate to the charity Young Minds, which supports children and young people with their mental health. A special photo booth was set up by student ambassadors, where children dressed in yellow could take fun photos with props.
In addition to student activities, staff at Chapelford took part in a "Random Act of Kindness" initiative. Anonymous gifts of mugs filled with chocolate bars were passed among staff members, spreading kindness and positivity. The day’s activities also included positive affirmation posters in the staff room to inspire and uplift everyone throughout the school.
Park Road Community Primary School joined the efforts by hosting a ‘Tea and Talk’ event for staff, where teachers and staff members could unwind with cake and their favourite hot drinks. Students also wore yellow to support YoungMinds and participated in activities tied to the school’s “My Happy Mind” program, which focuses on mental wellbeing and emotional literacy.
Great work everyone!
