All weather learning at Burtonwood following team effort

Children at Burtonwood Community Primary School have a new outdoor space for all weather learning following a massive team effort from Trust facilities staff, our dedicated Year 6 pupils and the local community.
The new Forest School gazebo was completely funded by monies raised through PTFA events and was built over a number of days by members of our Facilities Team from schools across the Trust.
With the fantastic help of Year 6, the school has also been able to create a clearing within their forest to make access easier for all children in the school.
This is the first stage of work to improve access and the facilities within the Forest School and will make learning outside more possible over the summer months.
The next planned phase will be to create a pond area with secure fencing, which will allow the children the opportunity to explore the exciting wildlife that within the school’s environment.
Forest Schools like this one at Burtonwood, provides children with high-quality learning experiences that support their physical, emotional, and cognitive development through purposeful engagement with the natural environment.
Working together with the community and staff from all Trust schools gives projects like this the chance to make a huge impact on the opportunities children have to learn at school.
A massive thank you to the children, staff members and the whole community who helped to make this first phase come to life and we look forward to seeing what happens next to make Burtonwood’s Forest School a great place to learn.
