As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we are celebrating the impact of apprenticeships across our Trust.

We are highlighting the achievements and contributions of our apprentices and exploring the successes and aspirations of our students who have chosen to follow an apprenticeship career pathway.

Apprenticeships play a vital role in developing practical skills, qualifications and confidence, whether for career progression or as a first step after education.

To mark the week, we spoke to apprentices across the Trust to find out more about their experiences and how their apprenticeships have shaped their career paths.

Maria Hartless – Safeguarding and People Services Administration Officer

Maria is currently completing a Level 5 HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship with Warrington and Vale Royal College.

She decided to take the apprenticeship route because it was offered as part of her role and provided a valuable opportunity to gain the qualification.

Talking about her experience so far, Maria said: “I have gained a variety of knowledge and experience which I have been able to apply to my role and beyond. I hope now to progress within HR and become more involved in employee relations and workplace wellbeing matters.”

Charley Searle – Sports Apprentice at Chapelford Village Primary School

Charley is training with Aspire Training Company and has chosen the apprenticeship pathway for its unique blend of learning and practical experience.

By immersing herself in various aspects of the educational environment, Charley is able to develop her skills and knowledge in ways that traditional study alone might not offer.

Since starting her apprenticeship, she has noticed significant benefits, particularly a boost in confidence when leading sessions independently.

Charley said: “I have had many benefits since having this apprenticeship as I am now more confident in leading sessions by myself such as PE. Currently I am working in Y4 teaching them dance. I hope to gain more qualifications as I continue my journey in working with children and could work my way up into a teaching assistant role as well as supporting children emotionally and their wellbeing.”
