As part of National Careers Week, students across Omega Multi-Academy Trust have been exploring their future career possibilities.
The UK-wide campaign, which runs from 3rd to 8th March, promotes careers guidance across the UK and helps young people consider their future pathways.
During the week, Alsop High School hosted a Careers Fair, where students had the opportunity to meet professionals from a range of industries, including sports, health and beauty and the armed forces. The event also provided information on apprenticeships, university degrees, and other post-school options. Students took the chance to ask insightful questions, explore new opportunities and make valuable connections for their next steps.
At Great Sankey High School, Years 7, 8, and 9 took part in sessions exploring the challenges and rewards of work, youth employment, career pathways and essential workplace skills. Year 10 students focused on the different types of courses which are available to them after they turn 16. As part of their Creative and Enterprising topic, Year 7 students launched an exciting new challenge of creating a business that solves a real-world problem.
With the weeks events not over yet at Great Sankey, Year 9 students are looking forward to visiting United Utilities to meet employees and learn about various STEM careers.
Chapelford Village Primary School pupils took part in lessons and activities designed to spark their imagination and align with their curriculum learning. Each year group focused on a different career theme and explored the skills required for various professions. Pupils had the opportunity to meet a Vet Practice Manager, a guest from the travel industry, a safety expert, a local sheep farmer, a dentist, a veterinary dentist, and a representative from the fashion industry.
Year 5 also delved into the world of politics, linking their British Values lessons and the Rule of Law to careers in government. They participated in an online session with a member of the House of Lords, gaining a deeper understanding of the democratic system, the role of politicians, and how laws are shaped.
National Careers Week has been an inspiring and engaging experience for students across our Trust, helping them to look ahead and explore the many possibilities their future could hold.
