Students and families from Great Sankey High School have demonstrated remarkable generosity, collecting vital supplies to support local charities during the festive season.

Organised in response to a request from Barrow Hall College students, the school held a non-uniform day on Friday, 13th December, with donations going to Warrington Foodbank and Warrington Youth Zone’s Christmas Drive.

The initiative was led by the school’s Junior Leadership Team and inspired students to bring in an extraordinary amount of contributions.

Deputy Head Teacher Rachael Wardle said: “Our students rose to the challenge and driven by the enthusiasm and support of our Junior Leadership Team arrived at school armed with much needed supplies.  Very quickly the reception area of school became flooded with their amazingly generous donations.

“The Junior Leadership Team, and students from the college, assisted staff for almost two hours, whilst they sorted, packed and bagged the numerous items, packing up both school minibuses to take to Warrington Foodbank.”

Even as the packed minibuses departed, donations continued to arrive. These additional contributions were gifted to Warrington Youth Zone’s Christmas Drive, in recognition of their role in supporting students through Feel Good Friday activities and spreading holiday cheer across the community.

By coming together to support others, students and families have made a significant impact, bringing hope and joy to local families in need this Christmas.
