Other Information

Why This Role Matters

Reading is the foundation of learning. When young people are able to read confidently and fluently, they are better able to access the curriculum, develop independence, achieve academically and engage fully with the world around them. For some pupils, difficulties with reading can affect confidence, participation and future opportunities. By supporting pupils to strengthen these skills, mentors can make a genuine and lasting difference to their educational experience and future life chances. This role offers the opportunity to see pupils grow in confidence, develop resilience and experience success through targeted support and encouragement.
