Putting ART into the heART of Liverpool Heartbeat
Alsop High School students are celebrating their creativity and success after their high quality artwork entries have won prizes in the Liverpool Heartbeat Art competition 'Putting ART into the heART of Liverpool Heartbeat.'
The prize winners attended the Awards ceremony at Bluecoat Art Gallery in Liverpool City Centre. The competition was organised by Robin Baynes and the prizes were presented by Tim Quinn, the Marvel illustrator. Tim was born in Liverpool born and for the last twenty years he has worked has in New York.
Sixth form student Abisa Arivalagan won first prize in the Liverpool secondary schools category. She was thrilled to be presented with her prize, a portrait of her as a Superhero drawn by Marvel Illustrator Russ Leach. The school also received a copy of the portrait to display in school.
Year eight student Emma Williams was runner up in the Liverpool secondary schools category and she was delighted to be awarded Argos gift vouchers.

“Both students thoroughly enjoyed the prestigious event which was attended by the Mayor of Liverpool, Liverpool Heartbeat charity organisers, Liverpool sculptor Tom Murphy and staff and students from across Merseyside schools.
I am extremely proud of both students who completed their entries during Lockdown and home learning. They are an inspiration.”
