Year 13 students have been arriving at Barrow Hall College this morning for results day at Barrow Hall College.

"Our Year 13 students have worked extremely hard in incredibly challenging circumstances, and we believe that the final grades they have been awarded reflect this. They have shown great resilience and determination and we are extremely proud of them all." said Rhianne Bond, Head of Barrow Hall College.

Mrs Bond explained that the sixth form college of Great Sankey High School implemented “a robust approach to awarding teacher assessed grades which reflected a holistic view of the standard at which the students were performing. Our priority was to ensure we clearly followed the guidance provided by OFQUAL and exam boards to deliver a grading system that was student focused, consistent, fair and robust and give them the best opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities.

Mr Shannon, Headteacher of Great Sankey High School said that "despite the pandemic, our priority, as in all years, has been to support our students as they move onto the next stage of their education. Students have achieved some fantastic results including, as every year, A* grades across the board. Many of our students will continue their education at university, including some of the most prestigious Russell Group universities studying on a variety of courses including Law, Architecture and Psychology at the University of Liverpool, Maths, Biology, Economics, Geography and Sociology at the University of Manchester, and Physics and Computer Science at the University of York. Other students have secured advanced and higher apprenticeships or employment. Whichever path our students follow, we know they have the right skills and attributes to lead happy, successful lives and we wish them every success for the future.”
