Great Sankey High School Annual Academy Awards, 20th & 21st July 2021

Great Sankey High School were delighted to hold their first ever Academy Awards this week! Great Sankey High School has always offered a fantastic curriculum and amazing extra-curricular opportunities to its students and this year, in particular, wanted to ensure it was celebrated accordingly.

The Academy Awards recognise the efforts and achievements of students across all subject areas following nominations from their teachers.  The trophies themselves have been individually made locally by glass artist Helen Davies and are absolutely stunning.

Headteacher Mr Shannon, said "We had planned for a star-studded event in our new sportshall but when the delta variant put that at risk rather than cancel we opted for our first ever, and hopefully only, drive-in event with students performing and hosting the occasion and award winners and their families parking on the school yard and then walking up the red carpet to receive their awards.  It was a lovely way to end the year, celebrate the hard work of students and our staff.  We are however, very much looking forward to and hoping for a return to a more normal school experience in September."
