Pupils enjoy exciting Transition Days
New pupils joining Omega Multi-Academy Trust schools in September, have enjoyed a series of Transition Days to help them settle in, build confidence, and feel ready for the year ahead.
Transition Days are vital in helping new starters feel comfortable and confident in their new school environment before they begin in September. They give pupils the chance to meet teachers and classmates, experience lessons, and ease any worries.
At Great Sankey High School, incoming Year 7 pupils began their day in Barrow Hall Theatre for a warm welcome and debrief with their Year Team and form tutors. They then headed off to sample lessons in Computer Science, Food Technology, Maths, and English. Pupils ended with a final gathering back in the theatre to reflect on their experience and ask any remaining questions.
Alsop High School welcomed new starters who took part in Food Technology sessions, made observations and predictions in Science, enjoyed sports and PE, and attended English sessions, alongside exploring the library. Each child received an Alsop Welcome Starter Pack and had the chance to choose a free book to take home and enjoy over the summer. Parents were also invited to an evening session to find out more about what to expect in September.
At Park Road Community Primary School, the youngest new starters were treated to a special Teddy Bears’ Picnic. This provided the children starting in Reception in September with the opportunity to explore their new school in a friendly, relaxed environment and to meet their Year 5 Buddies, who will be supporting them closely from September onwards.
Over the transition days, pupils engaged positively with activities and made an excellent impression on staff. It was wonderful to see them participating so enthusiastically and beginning to build relationships with their peers and teachers. Staff greatly valued the opportunity to meet the new starters and look forward to welcoming them officially in September.
